The building is located at 793-799 Colombo Street, is a replacement for earthquake-damaged buildings on the site.
The three-storey building is constructed of timber, with a composite timber concrete floor and suspended reinforced concrete ground floor slab. The building is designed to resist seismic loads using Pres-Lam technology, which enables a controlled rocking mechanism that returns the building upright without significant structural damage, even after a major seismic event.
